Reclaiming Rent From NFTs You No Longer Own

Updated · 3 min read

A standard Solana NFT lives in a token account just like a fungible token. After you sell or send it, that account can remain open with a balance of zero.

Closing empty NFT accounts

Empty NFT token accounts are closed exactly like any other empty token account and return the same kind of rent deposit.

What this does not cover

Burning an NFT you still hold, and compressed NFTs, work differently and are outside the scope of closing empty accounts. RecycleTokens only closes accounts that are already empty.

Check your wallet for locked SOL

Scan any Solana address for empty token accounts and see exactly how much rent you can reclaim. Free to check, non-custodial to close.

Frequently asked questions

Can closing an empty account affect NFTs I still own?

No. Only zero-balance accounts are closed; accounts that hold an NFT are never touched.
