Reclaiming SOL Rent With a Ledger Hardware Wallet
Updated · 4 min read
A Ledger keeps your private key on the device, which makes it a good fit for cleaning up a long-term wallet. You connect it through a software wallet such as Phantom or Solflare.
Setup
Install the Solana app on the Ledger, connect the Ledger account inside Phantom or Solflare, and then connect that wallet to the reclaim tool as usual.
Signing on the device
Ledger devices display transactions that contain several instructions in a compact form, and some models require blind signing to be enabled in the Solana app settings for complex transactions. Only enable it when you trust the site you are using, and disable it again afterwards if you prefer.
Because each batch holds about 18 accounts, a wallet with 100 empty accounts needs around six approvals on the device.
Check your wallet for locked SOL
Scan any Solana address for empty token accounts and see exactly how much rent you can reclaim. Free to check, non-custodial to close.
Frequently asked questions
Is my Ledger at risk when closing accounts?
Closing empty accounts cannot move your tokens. The key never leaves the device and every transaction still needs your physical approval.
