Token Account vs Wallet Address
Updated · 3 min read
Your wallet address is the owner. Token accounts are separate accounts that record how much of a specific token that owner holds.
How they relate
Each token account stores a mint, an owner, and a balance. Your wallet can own hundreds of token accounts, one for each token you have ever held and not closed.
In block explorers
Looking up your wallet address lists all token accounts it owns. Looking up a token account shows its owner, mint and balance. Empty accounts appear with a balance of zero.
Check your wallet for locked SOL
Scan any Solana address for empty token accounts and see exactly how much rent you can reclaim. Free to check, non-custodial to close.
